Last week was a great one as the fortunate end of City Island shooting came. The movie which is the latest co-production of Gremi Film Production is in fact the first Polish-American project. After 28 days of exhausting work, Thursday August 28th, at 5.30 am the last shot was taken at one of well know movie spots called The Empire Diner nearby the 10th Ave. in NY.

Very happy however it is hard to hide quite exhausted crew, with enthusiasm welcomed the glass of champagne. Everyone was very pleased that all the shooting went very smoothly yet in a friendly atmosphere.
At the end Andy Garcia who is also the producer of City Island, thanked all the team for wonderful work and great commitment they provided during that production. From the very beginning the movie has risen in lucky circumstances and there is no exaggeration saying that a ‘great movie’ is expected.

During the shooting one could quiet often hear that the story shot by Ray De Felitta (besides being the director he is also the script’s author) is very good one. The founder of family Rizzo as one of the filmmakers who is very concentrated during his work almost invisible on set yet very efficient of what he wants to achieve. Apart from well know actors like Andy Garcia, Emily Mortimer, Steven Strait, Julianna Margulies, Alan Arkin he also invited to this project talented creators like cinematographer Vanja Cernjul, production designer Franckie Diago, sound mixer Jan McLaughlin,  costume designer Tere Duncan, still photographer Phil Caruso and the one who had the worst work of all gathered 1st Assistant Director Eric Henriquez. Ray is one of the rare directors who is not afraid to share his experience with others and from the very beginning he shared his reflections and made relation from the set on his blog http://www.moviestildawn.blogspot.com/ - now it is a historic description of City Island creation day after day.

In the evening all the crew and actors came to Colors Cafe where the wrap party was held. To amusement of all the guests director Ray De Felitta as well as Andy Garcia gave an outstanding performance in assistance of a jazz-Cuban band. The actor underlines that for the movie’s premiere in Poland he will come with his band to play for Polish viewers – Greg Hajdarowicz, the producer from Gremi Film Production – takes these words as a promise!
